-
Basic Respiratory Protection
The goal of this lesson is to ensure users are qualified and properly trained in the use and maintenance of respirators.
- Bloodborne Pathogens for Healthcare Workers
Healthcare workers are at high risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens. This lesson covers the OSHA requirements for minimizing your exposure to bloodborne pathogens through the use of Standard Precautions such as protective clothing and equipment, the appropriate handling of sharps, and the disposal of potentially infectious waste.
- Bloodborne Pathogens for Supervisors
Due to the nature of the work, healthcare industry workplaces have a high percentage of personnel who are considered "at risk" for exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Injuries with needles or other sharp devices are the most frequent cause of bloodborne infections in healthcare settings. . In this lesson, you will learn how to prevent and manage bloodborne pathogen exposure risks for healthcare personnel in your facility.
-
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
This lesson provides refresher training or supplement training from a practical hands-on CPR course on how to respond confidently to a respiratory, cardiac, or choking emergency until professional medical help arrives.
-
Chemical Safety
This lesson provides required awareness training in occupational hazards common to the handling of chemicals, methods used for evaluating and minimizing chemical exposure, measures that protect against chemical hazards, safe practices for chemical storage and waste disposal, and the correct response to emergency situations involving chemical spills.
-
Confined Space - Entry Level
The lesson covers the hazards posed by Permit-Required Confined Spaces to employees during entry. It also covers the responsibilities of the Space Entrant, Attendant, or Entry Supervisor before, during, and after the space entry. This training does not qualify employees to enter Permit-Required Confined Spaces.
- Electrical Safety
Electrical accidents can involve enough current to shock or even kill you. This lesson provides a basic understanding of electricity, how to identify electrical hazards in the workplace, safe work practices, safety tips to reduce your potential for electric shock, and how to respond to an emergency situation involving electricity.
-
Emergency Response
Each employee will recognize their employer's responsibilities for communicating the emergency action plan, list their responsibilities in the action plan, identify requirements for alarm systems, recognize the elements of the fire prevention plan, and state responsibilities for responding to weather-related disasters, natural disasters, bomb threats, fire, workplace violence, and hazardous material incidents.
- Fire Safety and Patient Evacuation
Fire in a healthcare facility places the lives of staff and patients in great danger. This lesson covers the precautions to take to prevent fires, how to protect yourself, other staff, and patients from fire and smoke, how to respond in a fire emergency, and how to use a portable fire extinguisher.
-
Flammable Liquid Safety
This lesson covers the principles of hazard recognition, general safety requirements, flashpoint protection and inventory inspections in the use of flammable and combustible liquids in the workplace.
-
Hand and Power Tool Safety
Each employee using hand and power tools will recognize definitions and types of portable tools, the potential hazards connected with their use, including manual, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, liquid-fueled, powder-actuated, and abrasive wheel tools, and will demonstrate the proper procedures required for each type of tool.
- Hazard Communication
Most chemicals used in healthcare facilities have some hazard potential. In this lesson you will learn the procedures for using chemicals safely, where to get the information you need, how to recognize and prevent exposure, and how to respond to a chemical accident.
-
Hearing Conservation
The goal of this introductory course is to enable the employee to correctly apply the principles of hazard recognition, risk management, and rights and responsibilities when working in areas where noise is a hazard.
-
Incident Investigation
This lesson covers the purpose for conducting an incident investigation, the procedures to follow, and what information should be determined during the investigation. It also covers who to interview, how to properly conduct the interview, and how to complete an investigation report and recommend corrective action following the investigation.
-
Laboratory Safety
The goal of this lesson is to provide required awareness training in the occupational hazards common to most laboratory operations, safe work practices to help reduce or eliminate exposure to these hazards, special equipment and precautions to ensure personal safety, and the correct response to emergency situations in laboratories.
-
Ladder Safety
Learn common hazards associated with ladder work and how to follow safe practices to reduce these hazards. Also, learn the fall protection requirements associated with ladder work and when and how to inspect ladders.
- Latex Allergy
Many healthcare workers are at high risk for developing latex allergies because of their frequent use of latex gloves. This lesson explains the dangers posed by latex, the signs and symptoms of possible latex allergy, ways to manage the risk of exposure, and how to respond to a severe reaction to latex.
- Lifting and Transferring Patients
Healthcare workers face a high risk of occupational injuries due to frequent lifting and transferring of patients. By using correct methods for lifting and transferring patients, healthcare workers can ensure safety for themselves and for their patients. In this lesson you will learn about the risks involved in lifting and transferring patients, how to plan the movement of patients, and proper techniques for executing common lifts and transfers.
